A dance workshop where participants can explore their ability to sense into to their own bodies and the collective body of the group. We will practice our ability to listen, first to our selves and then gradually to the people in the room with us and the room as a whole. Using playfulness as a way in to our exploration, we will look for the ever shifting balance between sensing inwards towards ourselves and sensing outwards towards the collective. Balancing in that space together, we will move as a group. No previous dance experience is required. All ages, all genders, all bodies are warmly welcomed
Maya Tenzer is a dancer currently working with the Mainfranken Theatre in Würzburg. She was born in New Haven, USA and grew up in Vancouver, Canada. Both places are the unceded lands of Indigenous peoples. She is curious about the ways in which dance and politics intersect, and what we can discover when we pay attention to the stories that our bodies carry. She is grateful for this chance to share and exchange with participants in the workshop and explore together what collectivity can look like and feel like when it is embodied.
